Barrie Lawn Rolling services to give your lawn a smooth future
Rolling a lawn should not be done yearly, but there are some situations where rolling your lawn is a good practice. This includes rolling a new lawn after seeding, lawn rolling after sodding or
- especially in Barrie - if the fluctuating termperatures of winter have caused soil heaving.
Also, if your lawn has been made bumpy by animal tunnels and warrens, lawn rolling is a simple and effective way to cure these ills and smooth your lawn.
However, despite common misconceptions, rolling a lawn too frequently and not following a lawn rolling with a proper core aeration will only create issues with the soil in your yard.
Mapleview recommends lawn rolling only for the situations listed above (with some exceptions), and always recommends following any lawn rolling with an aeration process that will reduce some of the natural compaction that lawn rolling can cause.
If you would like to schedule a lawn rolling, please note that it is critical to roll a lawn when the ground is damp... NOT soaked. Rolling the lawn when it is soaked will encourage soil compaction which makes it difficult for the grass to get the water and air that it needs. We normally recommend Spring as the best time when to roll the lawn, when grass is just coming out of dormancy and the roots are in active growth.
(We do not recommend rolling clay heavy soil. Clay heavy soil is more prone to compaction than other kinds of soil).
